'In-House' Training

The first Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM is a maintenance meeting. At these maintenance meetings Equipment, Apparatus and Station maintenance issues are addressed.

The second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM is a regular training night. At these training meetings there is a combination of classroom and/or hands-on training issues addressed.

Firefighters and Personnel attend a regular training and maintenance schedule 'In-House'. There are also many State and National training opportunities available on a continual basis, classes which provide State and National Certification to Firefighters. All of these classes help to bring up the level of skill within the Department but are optional to the volunteer.

Firefighters are required to attend 50% of all 'In-House' training and maintenance meetings to keep them on the current roster. We realize that sometimes life and work schedules can overwhelm any family, and their volunteer life may be put on hold indefinitely. We appreciate all the knowledge and time each volunteer puts in to training so we have built-in safety requirements that allow our personnel to take a leave of absence and not lose their position within the organization that they have worked so hard to attain. If a Firefighter is not in compliance for six (6) months they are placed on an 'Inactive' list until they have an opportunity to attend a 'Refresher class'. The reson for this is to maintain a level of safety for all of the responders and their families and the members of the community we serve.
